About Us

Our History

Established in 1995 as Turkey's first undergraduate program in Management Information Systems (MIS), our department has played a pioneering role in advancing the discipline through excellence in education, research, and societal engagement. With the introduction of the Master's Program in 2003 and the Ph.D. Program in 2013, the department has evolved into a comprehensive center for education and research, preparing scholars, researchers, and industry leaders in the field of information systems.

Our Faculty Members

Our faculty members conduct internationally recognized research across a broad range of MIS disciplines. They publish in leading academic journals, serve on the editorial and scientific boards of prestigious international journals, and actively contribute to national and international research projects funded by organizations such as the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK), the European Union, and other funding agencies. Beyond their research activities, our faculty play active roles in the world's leading Information Systems conferences and professional communities. They regularly present their research on international platforms while also contributing to Türkiye's academic visibility by leading the organization of major international conferences and scholarly events in the country.

Through our distinguished faculty and strong partnerships with industry, our students graduate with both a rigorous academic foundation and valuable practical experience. Supported by an extensive network of international research collaborations, academic partnerships, and student exchange agreements, the department offers students and faculty access to a vibrant global academic community.

Academic Programs

During the early years of the undergraduate program, students build strong foundations in business administration, economics, statistics, and computer science. In the later years, they specialize in areas including information systems analysis and design, data management, business analytics, artificial intelligence applications, software development, digital transformation, digital marketing and e-commerce, project management, technology strategy, and innovation management. To keep pace with rapid technological change, our curriculum is continuously updated with valuable input from industry professionals and our alumni.

Our graduate programs are designed for students from diverse academic backgrounds who wish to specialize in MIS. Students develop advanced knowledge and research capabilities in the strategic use of information and communication technologies within organizations. The thesis-based Master's Program emphasizes academic research and knowledge creation, while the non-thesis Master's Program focuses on developing professionals' competencies in digital transformation and technology leadership.

Our Ph.D. Program prepares researchers capable of conducting original scientific research and contributing to the international Information Systems literature. Together, our graduate programs provide students with a strong theoretical foundation, advanced research capabilities, and opportunities to engage with the global academic community, enabling them to become scientific and professional leaders in the field.

Research Areas

Graduate theses and research projects within the department focus on a wide range of contemporary topics, including Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics; Information Systems and Digital Transformation; Cybersecurity and Digital Trust; Digital Marketing and Social Networks; Sustainability, Supply Chains and Digital Innovation; and Human, Organization and Society-Centered Information Systems. Reflecting the growing strategic importance of the Information Systems discipline, our research addresses some of today's most pressing global challenges, including digital transformation, sustainable development, competitiveness, cybersecurity, and societal well-being. Through active participation in these research initiatives, our students develop critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and interdisciplinary research skills while contributing to the development of knowledge and technologies that shape the future of society.
